Budget Car Rental with Van

There was a bug when paying the deposit with my Chinese credit card, but the staff at Dalaman Airport were super patient and kept trying different ways with me until my bank sorted it out. They were really friendly and attentive the whole time.

Service attitude was okay overall. Honestly, Avis and Budget are basically the same counter—just pick whichever’s cheaper. The key drop box is only labeled Avis, no Budget, but that shouldn’t really matter. One annoying thing: when we booked, the main driver didn’t bring their physical credit card, and Apple Pay couldn’t be used for the deposit. Another person, listed as the second driver, tried to switch to being the main driver and use their own physical card, but the staff refused to change it. Really hard to understand their logic.

When we arrived to collect the car, it was a bit before our scheduled time and they let us know it was still being washed. Overall, the rental experience has been excellent, and both pickup and drop-off are really quick.

Picked up the car at Philadelphia Airport and drove through Virginia, New Jersey, then returned it at JFK in New York. The car was in great condition, easy to handle, and fuel‑efficient. The pickup and drop‑off process was very clear and straightforward, so everything went smoothly. I’m really happy with the experience, and the price was reasonable. The only thing is the interior space was a bit small. We had a lot of luggage for my kid’s golf tournament, and the trunk plus back seat were completely packed, but for two people it still worked fine.

Picked up a Tiguan SUV at Ottawa airport and it was perfect—tons of space for all my luggage, simple paperwork, friendly service, and it was super comfortable cruising on the highway. Dropping the car off at Toronto airport was just as easy: hand the keys to the staff and you’re done. Overall a really smooth rental experience. The only minor issue was the car key battery dying and needing a replacement, but everything else was great. QEEQ’s customer service was also really helpful. I noticed some differences between the contract and my booking, so I checked with them. They patiently verified everything and confirmed the contract terms did match the order; the rental company just hadn’t listed them clearly. That really put my mind at ease. If you’re renting in Canada, try to choose a company that includes third-party liability coverage—many don’t. Budget is one of the few that does. It’s a bit more expensive, but definitely worth it!

We happened to get a brand-new car with less than 10,000 km on it, and the whole rental experience was excellent. The staff knew we already had our own insurance and clearly explained how to file a claim if we ever needed to. Before we drove off, the inspector noticed the gas tank was only half full even though the contract said it should be full, so he immediately updated the paperwork and noted that we’d be refunded for the half tank of gas (since the car has to be returned with a full tank). Overall, it was a fantastic rental experience and completely different from the negative reviews we’d seen beforehand.

The whole rental process was super convenient, and returning it was even easier—just handed back the keys and was done in a minute or two. They didn’t even do a car inspection on the spot.
