Europcar Car Rental with Van

Second time renting here and I’m just as happy as the first. It wasn’t crowded, the car was ready to go in advance and the staff were really friendly.

Everything was exactly as described on QEEQ: €100 deposit and no pushy upselling on extra insurance.

We were renting a car to go skiing, so we proactively asked for snow tires just in case. After some bargaining, the price dropped from €70 a day to €36 a day. The full deposit was refunded two days after we returned the car.

First time driving a Haval J6 hybrid and I’m really impressed – great performance, easy to handle, and the car is in excellent condition.

The staff at pickup didn’t speak any English at all, so it was really hard to communicate. The diesel car also needed AdBlue, which from what I understand shouldn’t be something the renter has to pay for, but the car kept giving warnings and everything I found online said the engine might not start if the level got too low. We ended up buying 4 liters for 176 TRY, and I honestly think that cost should be reimbursed.

Overall, Eurocpcar was really efficient and straightforward to deal with, no hidden tricks. I’d definitely consider using them again next time I’m in Europe.

Really happy with this rental. They even upgraded my car at pickup, so it was basically a brand-new Audi. Tom was super friendly and really responsible. I returned the car about 10 minutes later than planned and the branch had already closed, but Tom still helped me out, took the car back, and finished all the paperwork the next day without me having to go back in. Huge shout-out to Tom, really appreciate what he did!

They’re really popular so the lines can get pretty long, but once it’s your turn they handle everything fairly efficiently.

I booked a Corolla but ended up with some kind of Changan instead—not sure which model—but the car was really new, only about 9,000 km on it. Pick-up and return were both super quick, the staff were very nice, and my deposit was fully refunded just a few hours after drop-off.

Cicar is probably the busiest local rental company in Lanzarote, while Europcar had no line at all. They tried to upsell three levels of insurance. Some of the roads to attractions are really rough, so the coverage is actually useful. Full insurance was a bit over €20 a day, and then you don’t have to stress about scrapes, bumps, or flying gravel. I’d definitely recommend getting full coverage.

Overall it was okay. As soon as I got off the plane I went straight to the rental counter and there was a long line, waited ages. Every other counter had two staff, but Europcar only had one. The guy at the counter tried to upsell me insurance, but I turned it down.

They gave us a Honda CR-V and the space was huge, we were really happy with it.

The main reason for my low rating is the car’s condition. All four tires were extremely old and worn down to the tread wear indicators, which is a serious safety concern.
