The lady at the pickup service was very nice and even upgraded our car for free (mainly because the original car would take time to be ready, and she was kind enough not to make us wait too long). Initially, there was an attempt to sell us insurance, but when we said no, they did not push further.

Picking up the car in San Francisco was very convenient, possibly because it was early and there were no queues. Chrysler's Town and Country has immense space; it fit our group of 5 people, 5 large suitcases, and 2 small suitcases. Truly an American car—big!

The vehicle was not prepared for rental. It had not been cleaned and was not re-fuelled. The lack of fuel was reported to Avis before we left the rental lot. I paid for a full tank of gas, On returning the vehicle, I complained about the lack of preparation, cleanliness and missing gas. The only thing Avis was prepared to do was refund the charge for gas. It remains to be seen whether this gets paid. The vehicle itself wasn't great. There was a loud annoying squeak that was irrutating throughout the 2 week rental. The ride of the vehicle could best be describes as 'agricultural', i.e. not very comfortable.

Booking process was okay. No benefit from price drop protector.
