When returning the car near LA airport, there was a large open-air parking lot shared by three rental companies. The staff on duty that evening gave quick and rushed instructions, asking us to simply leave the keys and go. Later, I discovered that Hertz had overcharged me for an extra day's rental. Fortunately, I had taken some photos as proof, and Rentcars was very proactive in helping me reclaim my dues. However, I was not happy with Hertz's overall process. Make sure to carefully monitor any extra charges on your credit card when renting and returning cars.

My booking confirmation said that all state tourism assessment was included in my car price. However when I got the bill there was a CA Tourism Assessment of 3.5% charged additionally.

The car was damaged in the city, so I went to exchange it. I originally booked an L level car, but they gave me a Kia Rogue without refunding the price difference.

The service from Hertz was very good, but Americans are not very efficient. We waited for over half an hour to pick up the car, even though there were hardly any people ahead of us. The best part about Hertz cars is that they all come with Fastrak, so you can use the Fastrak lanes on toll bridges and pay later when you return the car. The QX80 we exchanged for was excellent, white, with no scratches, very new inside, and highly equipped. It even had built-in navigation and XM radio. We had four suitcases and bought three more, completely filling up the third-row seats when folded. Luckily, we changed cars. However, parking a large car was challenging since many parking spaces were quite small. Hertz's phone service was very quick, and they answered our questions accurately and promptly.
