However, based on average fuel consumption for a typical trip in Hawaii, the estimated cost of fuel would likely be under $50—even if the car was used daily. This option, therefore, seemed overpriced and unnecessary. The sales tactic included exaggerating the inconvenience of refueling in Hawaii, including claims that fuel stations were difficult to access or that foreigners might face additional fees due to credit card charges. The most peculiar assertion was that entering a ZIP code at fuel stations posed a significant obstacle, which seemed far-fetched and misleading. These aggressive upselling techniques undermined my trust in the service and detracted from an otherwise straightforward rental process. I would encourage a more transparent and customer-focused approach, emphasizing informed choice over pressure tactics.
