I rented a new energy car for just one day and they charged a $200 pre-authorization at the counter. When I returned the car in the evening, the office was already closed, nobody inspected the car, and I wasn't provided with a bill or receipt. Later that night, $100 was suddenly deducted from my account, which scared me into thinking my credit card was fraudulently charged. I locked my card! After contacting the customer service at the rental platform, I learned it was because I didn't return the car with a full charge. They charged a $15 service fee but withheld $100 just in case there wasn't enough? So overall, they charged me $300! It was baffling. A day later, an attempt was made to deduct $1, though it failed. They never sent me a bill, and I had no idea why these charges kept coming. Eventually, I had to request the bill through the rental platform's customer service. Overall, it was a very poor experience, and I will not use this store again.

The service was okay, but since it was my first time driving in the USA and I was unfamiliar with gas prices and how to refuel in the US, I didn’t choose to return the car with a full tank. From San Francisco Airport to St. Louis Airport is less than 400 kilometers, and according to the car type provided, we only used about 70% of a tank, but the rental company charged us $57.52 for fuel. At that time, this amount could fill more than two tanks. I raised this issue with the car rental customer service, but they said they couldn't handle it. In fact, it’s very easy to return the car with a full tank at U.S. airports. This is a reminder to other customers to avoid unfair charges.

The location is convenient, service is professional, and the efficiency is high. The car condition is good and picking up and returning the car is easy. However, the upselling was very aggressive and hard to refuse. I was forced to upgrade the car model because they said the original one couldn't fit my luggage. I was also convinced to buy emergency assistance insurance. I guess I'm too soft-hearted.

The drop off site near airport in Honolulu was very unprofessional. I had doubts on whether it was official Hertz location.
