I'm a Hertz Gold Member, but it doesn't matter when booking through a 3rd party...which I expected and understand. It was extremely busy and a lot of customers vented their frustration at the people working there, which accomplished nothing. Patience and politeness was rewarded with a new minivan instead of a 7 pax mid-sized SUV (at my request once told it might be a long wait for the other class) and a complimentary tank of gas.

Me and a friend booked 2 Mustangs for our American road trip, we got there early just in case. Pickup time was 11, our cars weren't ready until 12.30 so we waited about for over an hour and a half to then be given a Camaro and a Mercedes. How can you compare a Mustang to a Mercedes. Ones a 4 seater American car, the other is a 2 seater car you can find anywhere so we had trouble with our luggage space (you can only fit 1 suitcase in this car). Awful service from Hertz

Only nasty surprise was the added bridge-crossing fee. $8 to cross the Golden Gate, then Hertz adds another $6 in "convenience fees". Don't know what planet they are living on but that is a 75% increase, unexpected and extortionate. Bad move, Hertz, you'll be my last choice in the future.
