They only mentioned that the car should be returned with a full tank but didn't provide any driving tips or local rules. If it weren't our second time driving in New Zealand, we might have missed many local regulations. The rental company should not only explain the charges but also inform drivers about local driving rules. The employee just parked the car at the entrance and left. They didn't verify the existing scratches in front of us nor mentioned that the car had a foot brake. For a driver unfamiliar with the car, there should be some explanation. I had to figure everything out on my own. If it were my first time driving locally, I would have been completely lost.
