Choosing Europecar for car rental in Germany was a great decision, and it turned out to be equally good in Portugal. I prefer avoiding complications, so I booked the basic insurance online and purchased full insurance on-site. If the car gets scratched in the parking lot, you don't have to worry since it's covered by the insurance. Returning the car was a bit tricky, as I had to circle around several times; the navigation was incorrect and I had to ask for directions. To find the return location, navigate to 'Arrival,' and you should see signs for 'Car Return,' or follow signs for 'rent-a-car.' Near the airport's arrival exit, there are fewer signs, so pay extra attention. If renting from an airport location, keep in mind that many lower-cost options might require a shuttle bus for pick-up.

It feels like fraudulent charges were involved. I chose this company because it seemed cheap, but at the airport, I couldn’t find the company’s shuttle bus or staff. I ended up on the shuttle of another company by mistake since they were located just next to each other on the same street. Their shuttle service was poor, and the staff who handled the car pickup process tried to upsell their own insurance for €370. Because I was confident in my driving skills, I didn’t buy it. However, in Malaga, Spain, while visiting Picasso's birthplace and art exhibition, the car parked in a normal parking lot was vandalized by locals, and the left side mirror was broken. I contacted the car rental company, and the staff advised me to call the police. With my poor foreign language skills, I tried calling the Spanish police twice, but they didn’t understand me and hung up each time as there were no Chinese-language services. Helplessly, I returned to Portugal. During the car return inspection, the staff told me that in addition to the broken left side mirror, there were scratches on the left wheel and damage to the tire. When I picked up the car, I followed the standard procedure and took photos of the car from all sides, including the front left, front right, back left, back right, and center. I carefully inspected areas like the bumpers and doors, but since the inspection was done indoors with poor lighting, I missed examining the tires and wheels. After taking the photos in front of the staff, I drove out of the parking lot and parked in sunlight to double-check the car. I noticed some minor scratches and informed the staff member who happened to come out. He told me the scratches were already noted on the car pickup form and assured me there was no need to worry. I didn’t inspect all four wheels or the rims in detail due to his assurance. However, at return, I was told that the damages, including the left side mirror, exceeded the €1,599 deposit I initially paid, which felt like a huge scam. Roughly calculated, the rental cost came out to €100 per day—ridiculously expensive. I hope other drivers who read my review won’t be misled by low prices. Small companies might have hidden traps waiting for you.

Klass Wagen would not accept my credit card for car hire without collision coverage as it only had my first name initials- they require full first name on the card however they were happy to take payment to include the cost of the insurance which was several times more than the cost of the rental without insurance. There was also a 20 Euro charge to drop off at the airport location which was different from pick up.

Qdo retirei o carro não fizeram uma vistoria comigo apenas pediram meu visto e entregaram as chaves. Se eu soubesse que tinha que olhar até um risco na roda do pneu com certeza eu faria Estão me cobrando 250 euros Já ligou um funcionário da qeeq no meu celular em inglês e falou com o atendente aqui da loja pedindo a versão deles. A qeeq ficou de enviar um e-mail já que não entendo mtooo inglês e até o momento nada. Estou me retirando da loja sem assinar o contrato de devolução por desacordo no processo de retirada. Fui informada verbalmente será descontado do caução o valor de 250 euros. No aguardo

The rental company aggressively promoted insurance, and their service attitude was very poor if you didn't purchase it. I calculated the insurance cost from the rental company, and it turned out to be similar to what was offered by the third-party platform. It’s better to buy directly from the rental company in the future because you don’t even have to pay a deposit after purchasing it. I initially rented a Toyota hybrid to save on fuel costs, but they gave me an old Spanish-made car instead, claiming it was the same class.

Extremely dissatisfied. Out of the 20 countries where I have self-driven abroad, this was the worst experience. On the second day of the rental, I lost the car key due to my own mistake. A local friend in Portugal tried to help me pick up a spare key from the airport, but I was told I had to go in person. So I took a taxi to the rental location at the airport, only to be told there was no spare key. I was then instructed to personally call the towing company and return to the car's location myself. I took another taxi back to the car and waited for hours. When the tow truck arrived, the towing company said the car must be taken to a repair shop, not the rental office. Additionally, I had to bear all the resulting fees (towing, key replacement, refueling, labor, road service, etc.) myself, as the insurance did not cover them. This was my worst car rental experience ever! Remember the name Alamo. Never rent from this company.

After waiting in a queue at the counter, they announce additional fees ("premium location' fee, minimum license requirement, e-toll device hire). On top of that, they are trying to push very hard for their overpriced insurance. The vehicle I booked (an Audi Q2) changed to a Wolksvagen Touran (not the same category), and when I asked for time to think, I finally ended up with a Renault Captur. On the positive side, I must say that the deposit charge was returned to me the next day after I dropped it off.

In my order appears Alfa Romeo Stelvio (or similar) and this means SUV type car. The claim of goldcar was they don’t recognize this order like SUV and in their company it counts like F group so we received Fiat Tipo SW with no option to change so this is not SUV and of course not similar to Alfa Romeo Stelvio class.

I knew fuel in Europe was expensive at 14 RMB per liter, so I booked a Toyota Corolla Hybrid, which I was familiar with and had rented before, giving a mileage of 5 liters per 100 km. When I arrived at the store, after confirming the contract and deducting the deposit, the staff told me they did not have the model I booked and offered me a large diesel car instead. I refused, and they said they did not have any Toyota cars at all. I asked why they had me sign the contract and deducted my payment if they didn’t have the car. They finally gave me a Hyundai SUV with a 2.0-liter engine, which I didn't want as a 1.6-liter is sufficient for my wife and me. The larger engine consumed more fuel, and parking spaces in Europe are small. If not for booking a hybrid, I wouldn’t have considered this company. I wanted to cancel the order but was told by the rental platform that the SUV was also a hybrid, and they had no other cars available. I argued that hybrids should be matched with hybrids and engine capacity should be similar. The staff handling my rental was more interested in getting off work at 6 PM and left us at the counter when it was time for their dinner break. Eventually, I confirmed with the store manager and the rental platform that the SUV was a hybrid, and I had no choice but to accept it. The deposit was 2600 EUR if no insurance was bought. Returning the car was quick, and the return process was managed by different staff at a separate counter. The process was reasonable. After issuing a return receipt, I asked when the 2600 EUR deposit would be refunded. They said immediately, but I guessed it would take about 30 days.

Lisbon location is a scam. When dropping off the car, they charge us for a microscopic spot on the edge of the door which was already there when we rented it out. It wasn't even visible, other clients agreed with us that it wasn't visible but the attendant told us it was our fault and charged us. Either we pay that amount or they will charge us more. Luckily we had the insurance from QEEQ but also from our credit card so we managed to get it back. But be very careful when renting from this location. I had rented from the Pisa location and all good.

Shouqi Car Rental actually partners with a European rental company. The T1 terminal at Lisbon Airport has a whole building dedicated to various car rental companies, making it easy to find the pickup location. However, returning the car can be confusing. The rental office is just to the right after exiting customs at T1. Note that the vehicle inspection process in Portugal is very thorough. Once you inform the staff that you've purchased full insurance, they won't try to sell you additional coverage.

The charges did not relate to the QEEQ quote and were not adequately explained. Additional driver cost of €77.52 was not made clear. No idea why €80 was pending payment. No idea why we have been charged £68.49 since we returned home. Assume the £20.78 we have also been charged was for motorway tolls?? The car provided was a Seat Ibiza with 65,000kms on the clock. It was showing warning lights due to a faulty headlight. It was not in good mechanical order and was very noisy and sluggish under acceleration particularly uphill. We were surprised that it kept going for 2 weeks and over 1,000kms!

Dollar is not advertised at Lisbon, Hertz handle it 'under the counter' as their fighting brand. This is confusing when you are looking for the right counter. No issues with external CDW excess insurance. Did try and sell me an additional satnav when it is integral to the car (although not up-to-date with Portugese one-way streets)

The fact that Dollar is represented by Hertz, was not clear. On the Dollar counter there was a sign with a finger pointing to the left, however unclear that left meant the Hertz counter next door as opposed to a self service kiosk placed on the Dollar counter where you are supposed to introduce your RA no. or Vehicle registration no. and then proceed to the car park.

The car itself was fine but on returning I had the car inspected. It was visually inspected and stated the condition was fine , the condition on fuel full to full it was confirmed this was fine on return. I requested as final invoice but the company stated it could not do this as there were road tolls to consider. It was stated that I would be email a invoice with in seven days. As I thought this never arrived and my bank statement shows I was invoice for £50 pound followed by £19 pounds. The £19 pounds I suspect was for road tolls the £ 50 pound was I suspect a spurious charge that the company are trying there luck on. This company if you look at there reviews have a very poor history of doing this but overall life is too short and its only £ 50 pounds . I will just have to be more careful in the future and not hire from the company again, As a overall review of how car hire operates car hire companies operate they request we sign for the condition of the vehicle , the vehicle is full of fuel and for any damages. Would it not be fair for the car hire company to also sign for this on return. I did ask for this but it was refused when I returned the car. Overall poor performance as £ 50 pound was taken from my account with no justification , no final invoice supplied and I personally think the company is just taking me for a ride but to be honest I can't do with the hassle of fighting it so I will live with it but will never use the company again - bit short sighted if you ask me. Any comment would be gratefully received and if you would like to justify the £ 50 was take as well as the £ 19 taken it would be an insight and we could take it from there

I got better car then I expected. Instead of Ford Focus, petrol, I got Kia Sportage 1.6 l diesel. Economical and in very good condition. However, even I returned car with the full tank, today is fourth day that reserved deposit for the fuel is not released . Still waiting.

Our flight was late I try to contact via e mail, phone, Facebook, what's app with no answer. Phone number also incorrect on the booking. Customer service closes at 5 pm but no good when that's the only number to call. 2nd time I used. 1st in Porto airport which is one of my worst experiences ever. But Lisbon was by miles superior. Car did have lots of scratches etc... But all in the paperwork so OK.

Was late for the pick up. From you're website it says I would pick up the car and drop it from the airport, but instead they come pick us up and drop us off at the airport, which wasn't specified in the rental information.

Pick up at Lisbon airport was "pickup point" but I didn't know that and was looking for a desk. Luckily Global were looking for me and stuck around for 20 minute til they found me. Excellent staff, excellent service and an almost new car.

At the airport, you need to call to arrange a shuttle to the rental location instead of waiting at a fixed spot as instructed. An additional fee of 30 euros applies for service outside business hours, but they did not inform us of this in advance when contacted by phone.
