The car was in very good condition. The pick up process was smooth. I was welcomed by a very friendly employee. I was offered an upgrade to a Jeep Wrangler at a very good price, which I accepted. Overall I am very satisfied with the rental.

When handling the car pickup procedures, they added some extra costs. Due to communication issues, it took a lot of time and was hard to understand the additional charges. The experience wasn't great. It would be better to have Chinese service during pickup and a more detailed explanation of the car's operation.

Picked up the car at Lisbon airport; the queue was quite long. It seemed many people rented from this company, probably because it's the cheapest. However, they provided bottled water while waiting, and the staff was very friendly. Note that Europcar charges extra for additional drivers, which was a first for me. Keep this in mind.

Basic services were good, but the automatic highway toll system rented with the car was incompatible, causing alarms each time we passed a toll gate. On our first attempt to exchange it, we were told it was fine with no issues, so they refused to replace it. Contacting the rental platform didn't help either. We had to follow their advice and try again. The next day, the same alarm occurred on the highway. Finally, after hours of negotiation with local friends helping at the rental office, we got a new system. Everything was fine thereafter, but we were unsure how much we'd be fined for the previous alarms. The rental platform didn't provide effective help in this matter. If we do get fined, I hope the rental platform would handle it properly and positively.

The service was particularly bad. They first asked how many suitcases you had and then said they wouldn't fit. They kept pushing you to upgrade and buy insurance. The waiting time was too long. Never choose this rental company in Portugal again.

When picking up the car, I asked two people about two pieces of luggage. They said the car I booked was suitable for city driving, but if going to a farther city like Porto, it would be better to switch to a larger car, which would cost an additional 25 euros per day. Nevertheless, I chose to keep the original car. The car I received had 20806 kilometers on the odometer and was relatively new. Although it was a compact car, its height made the seating feel spacious, and after folding the rear seats, there was ample room for two pieces of luggage. The car handled very well, but the air conditioning was not very effective.

When booking through Zuzuche, I noticed there was a mileage limit on the rental options. Therefore, I didn't purchase Zuzuche's insurance but planned to buy the car rental company's insurance on-site and have them remove the mileage limit clause. At the car pick-up, I asked if I could buy full coverage without any mileage limit. The staff assured me there was no mileage limitation. Since the contract was in Portuguese, I trusted them and didn't translate it word by word. However, when returning the car, they still charged us for exceeding the mileage limit. I felt deceived, but since I signed the contract, even if I filed an after-sales complaint with Zuzuche, based on my years of experience with them, they would definitely not sincerely help resolve such issues. So, I could only accept my bad luck and consider it a costly lesson!

Not bad. I didn't buy insurance in China, thinking it would be better to buy it locally. But the staff on site said that this is a 4*4 high-end model, and it cannot be covered by full insurance. This means that if the car has a major issue, we would have to pay 6000 euros.

The counter only checked the document issued by QEEQ, ignoring my notarized Hague Apostille. Europcar's system is mediocre; the address, phone number, and email all need to be handwritten. After explaining that I had purchased all the insurance before departure, the counter did not push additional insurance, which is a good practice among major car rental companies nowadays.

Choosing Europecar for car rental in Germany was a great decision, and it turned out to be equally good in Portugal. I prefer avoiding complications, so I booked the basic insurance online and purchased full insurance on-site. If the car gets scratched in the parking lot, you don't have to worry since it's covered by the insurance. Returning the car was a bit tricky, as I had to circle around several times; the navigation was incorrect and I had to ask for directions. To find the return location, navigate to 'Arrival,' and you should see signs for 'Car Return,' or follow signs for 'rent-a-car.' Near the airport's arrival exit, there are fewer signs, so pay extra attention. If renting from an airport location, keep in mind that many lower-cost options might require a shuttle bus for pick-up.
