Car was fine - customer service- very poor

Site understaffed. Waiting times too long for pickup and for rental procedure (long queues). Also for car return (site deserted because only staff member was busy shuttling other customers to the airport)

I wanted to modify the reservation because of change of plans after cancelled flight. Couldn't find how to do it. So I cancelled the reservation completely and started from scratch.

When picking up the car the woman marking the damage was totally obnoxious as was the driver who picked us up at the airport. The young chap behind the counter started off okay but when getting into discussions with the damage marking lady he became slightly rude and wouldn't listen. On returning the car what a totally different experience the 2 guys checking in the car and young man behind the counter so much better. Pity the others couldn't learn from them

I booked an automatic car. The maanger said that that automatic car had not been in use for a while so better to take manual car. He offered a manual car with sat nav and reversing camera in the same price.Unfortunately that car did not have either of those things - and he fooled me. On my return he was not there and his junior left a note for him to refund of the difference between manual and automatic car - and still waiting for his response.

The counter staff member was rude and offhand. I also found him to be evasive and somewhat shifty. He did not have the mini car group which I had booked- suggesting that we might wait some undetermined time for a late return or offering us a 9-seater vehicle instead. He then insisted that I was required to give a £2500 credit card deposit which he said would be held for 2 weeks- this larger deposit due to the fact it was a larger vehicle than I had booked. There was no offer of compensation for this mistake and no acknowledgement of the extra fuel that this vehicle would consume at my expense, or of the difficulties in manouvering this large vehicle in traffic, etc. Even in the light of this failure to supply the pre-booked vehicle, I felt this was an unneccessarily adversarial encounter. At the pick up point in an underground car park 3 blocks away the final check and release was conducted efficiently and courteously. This also was true for the return check and sign off as 'all fine'.

Was not allowed to pick up the car as they would not accept my husband’s credit card, the one that paid for the car, for the deposit. I, the driver, do not have my own credit card. We had to go back to the airport and spend £103 for another car through Europcar.
