“Mixed experience: rude checkin, great checkout.”

Very unpleasent checkin to collect the car. The person at the counter tried to agressively sell their own insurance. When I mentioned that I already purchesed EasyRentCars Super Insurance, he started to warn me that: - AXA won't cover any damages. - Road Assistance was not possible because no one except their insurance company would be allowed to touch that car, even in case of accident. - I had to pay 2.180 Euro upfront as a franchise aginst possible damages. When I said that I wouldn't have to pay, that it was just a deposit, he said that ok, but it'd be retained for 1 month until release. When I complained about all that misleading information, he said that I was "making a bad start", that any damage would have a charge of minimum 800€, and in case of 2 damages, they would keep the whole deposit of over 2.000€. Of course I didn't buy his kind "warnings", handed my credit card, and left for the car. My surprise came when I found the car, completely new and really well kept... only that it was not my car. I rented a 9 seater car, and there were 2 identical units, blue colored Fiat Talento. But mine was in a poor condition, with damages on the four sides, one of them really considerable. I attach the picture here. I cannot help thinking that he gave me the worst possible unit because I didn't buy their insurance. And now the good part: The staff at the parking were really helpful to report the damages prior I drove the vehicle. And at drop-off, the lady who checked the car was really nice and helpful. It was a pity that the staff at the checkin counter was so rude and ruined what, in the end, could have been a nice experience. By the way, kudos to FIAT for a nice performing van.

Happy with you, guys, everything ran smooth. Only issue was the insurance conflict with Goldcar staff. It makes one to think twice whether to buy insurance from ERC; they are so aggressive that I think I am better off purchasing their insurance and avoid problems.

“Disappointing, SO disappointing so far!”

Had to go for a larger car, which I thought we might, but had HORRENDOUS experience with GOLDCAR!!! My c/card (the same one used to make booking) was rejected at checking, and on checking with my card provider, was told this rejection was instigated by the rental company itself (bizarre!) and at the moment am still trying to have a satisfactory explanation for this from them! Because of this nonsense contrived, it would seem, by GOLDCAR itself, this meant I had to totally rebook with them, costing me a supplementary 300euros almost, ENTIRELY due, it would appear, to GOLDCAR!!!!! Still ongoing, but not expecting too much from them with their attitude at the moment! Disappointed doesn’t seem strong enough!

“Terrible service”

The vehicle was heavily damaged on collection which was reported to Gold Car, after 10-15 minutes of waiting they said they knew and was fine to take, this was not an impression I wanted to drive around with a heavily dented, scratched car, on return I was 30 minutes late dropping the car off due to finding the location, I was charged 52 euros, not happy after my experience.

“Car we got was great once we got it. Rental staff extremely rude”

Waited ages to be served. Once serves we have a very rude lady. Wanted to charge me airport location tax dispute taxes being included in the chargw.. says it's not included as cheap rate and says in terms on goldcar website. Lady then said I had to pay fuel surcharge of €135 which is refundable if return full. That was fine. Then she said I had to take out there personal insurance. Explained I had insurance excess which she said wasn't going to cover their rental which was utterly rubbish. After 30mins had passed, she reluctantly took the €1400 blocked swipe of my car and we was on our way. Very very rude and told me not to shout at her which I honestly wasn't doing. She was mis-selling which not give me all options. I assume they are on commission. Kept saying that a 5p dent or a scratch would cost €700. I'm a careful driver having driver loads of hire cars before and never had so much bother getting a car. It was almost 11pm at this point. Once it was sorted, the car we got was nice and did the job. It was cheap for a reason .. there is no customer service. Be warned there might be hidden charges so also check goldcar website. There rating is also low and branded as robbers. It's true. Will never use again.
