Returning the car in Paris was straightforward, just park the car and hand over the keys at the counter. The credit card pre-authorization was canceled within a few hours—great experience.

I booked a Renault compact car, but the rental company provided a 2025 Toyota CHR EV that hasn't even been released in the domestic market yet. The car had only been driven a bit over 13,000 kilometers, practically brand new. A full tank of gas got us from Nice to Lyon via Avignon. French highways are very easy to drive on, though the toll fees are outrageously high.
