It seems to be the same company as Hertz, as the two stores are located right next to each other. There was no Golf model available when we picked up the car, so they showed us a hybrid 1.5T Toyota Corolla of the same class. It was a new car with only 20,000 km on it, and the driving experience was quite good, with the car in great condition. The front desk lady was very polite, and after we told her we had already purchased insurance, there was no upselling. Since the two of us had driver’s licenses from different cities, there was an additional driver fee of less than $40 total for five days. We were handed the car keys and taken to the designated spot to inspect the exterior of the vehicle. We took pictures and filmed a video around the car to check for any scratches, dents, chips, or other issues, which were recorded and reported to them immediately if found. Because we didn’t purchase the rental company’s insurance, we had to pay a security deposit of a little over $200 with a credit card. They informed us to return the car with a full tank of fuel and said to call them immediately if there were any issues. Then we were off and ready to go! After getting into the car, it took a bit of time to get familiar with everything. We used Google Maps for navigation, which worked well. Since the car had CarPlay, it was super convenient and we didn’t need to buy a phone holder. On the first two days, we drove to Melbourne city, where driving in the city center was slightly more complicated, especially at intersections where you sometimes need to make right turns from the far-left lane and wait for the horizontal traffic light to turn green. Over the next three days, we went to the Great Ocean Road via Geelong, and the drive was much more enjoyable. When returning the car, we followed the GPS to the airport, and as we neared the parking lot, we saw signs pointing to 'Car Rental'. Simply follow the signs, and you won’t go wrong.
Returning and picking up the car is very convenient. The credit card used must belong to the person who made the reservation. For toll fees, be sure to ask the store staff how to pay them, otherwise you may receive small fines later.
