The car I received had several scratches, but the rental company emailed a report listing all the pre-documented scratches. When picking up the car, I compared it against the report and was advised to promptly report any other issues to the staff. For the car return, simply navigate to the terminal and pay attention to the 'car rental' signs near the airport. Just follow the signs, and everything will be fine.
