This is the worst car rental store I have ever been to. I'll never rent a car from them again. The platform said car rental services are handled inside the train station. When I arrived that evening, the store was already closed. We had planned to set off early the next morning, but since we couldn't pick up the car, we had to change our itinerary. The next morning, we went to pick up the car, but it was still closed. We asked another rental company and found out they had moved to a different location. When we got to the new location, the staff lied and said they had posted a notice at the old location (which they hadn't).
After picking up the car in Madrid, we drove directly to Toledo. Halfway through, a tire alarm went off and there was no way to address it on the highway. We had to keep driving to our destination. Upon checking, we found the front left tire was slightly deflated. We immediately went to the AVIS branch in Toledo, but the location provided by the rental platform and the GPS didn’t have a store—it seems the branch had already closed. With no other options, we spent half a day looking for a repair shop but couldn’t find one. Ultimately, we used an air pump station to fill the tire and monitored the situation. Later, we discovered the tire had a slow leak, triggering the alarm every three days. Although it didn’t compromise safety and Spain offers convenient free air pump facilities at gas stations, this issue still wasted a lot of our time to enjoy our trip.
We picked up the car in Madrid and traveled through Portugal (Porto, Lisbon, Faro) and Spain (Seville, Malaga, Granada). The diesel car broke down due to a lack of urea (Doesn't the rental company check this?). This required us to communicate with AVIS over the phone, but their customer service was poor, and communication was difficult. After several tries, the vehicle was finally towed away. AVIS did not provide a replacement car, so we had to go to the airport rental company ourselves to find an alternative vehicle. Unfortunately, the car model changed from a 7-seater Mercedes to a 5-seater Peugeot. The entire experience was stressful and left us feeling helpless.
The service attitude was cold and impatient. When I mentioned that I didn't want to buy insurance, they tried to trick me into hidden charges and pushed me to buy their fuel service which cost over 70 euros. It's a rip-off.
The service was very satisfactory, the staff was very friendly, and the pick-up and drop-off process was extremely convenient, located at the ground parking lot of Terminal 1 at the airport, less than 100 meters from the airport exit. Large companies provide excellent service and a quick, easy experience.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
