Avoid this rental company at all costs. They operate under the name of another company, but the actual rental is through the notorious Green Motion. I booked a Range Rover Sport, costing over 1000 per day, but upon arrival, they claimed their system did not have this model. The customer service from the booking platform asked us to take pictures of their system, then threatened to call the police. They only had one Volkswagen available and no other options. After three hours of negotiation, even with intervention from the booking platform's customer service, there was no resolution. They suggested switching to a different rental company, but by then it was too late as we needed to rush to the next city.
We had to take public transport to pick up the car, and the restroom facilities were very basic. The hotel wouldn't allow us to enter. When returning the car, we waited 40 minutes for the airport shuttle, the ride took 20 minutes, and it took us a total of 1 hour to get to the airport after returning the car. Additionally, the fuel tank at pickup was slightly over half full, and refueling to the same level for return was troublesome since it's hard to gauge the exact amount. It's inevitable to overfill, which makes it less convenient than a full-to-full fuel policy. Furthermore, the deposit for the car was extremely high (£2,500), so make sure to check your credit card limit beforehand.
The service attitude is average, and there are hidden fees if you don't buy insurance. The reminders are not clear, making the cost of picking up the car high.
Before going, I checked Google Maps and saw low ratings, which made me feel uneasy. However, everything went smoothly from car pick-up to the car exchange. Apart from being offered optional insurance at the store for 40 euros per day—which they didn't push further after I declined—everything else was great.
The overall service was quite good. Personally, I prefer to purchase high-coverage insurance for overseas self-driving trips, and in such cases, the rental company tends to be more accommodating. As for buying toll tickets, they didn't force me to buy them. I understand the price is slightly higher, but a few euros difference saves me from unnecessary hassle.
The rental location is not inside the airport, requiring you to walk to Bus Stop 12 (which is actually the farthest stop) for the shuttle to pick you up, so make sure to leave enough time. Since the car model wasn't one we were familiar with, driving it was quite inconvenient initially. To make things worse, shortly after starting, a tire pressure warning alert appeared. We called customer service, and they told us to find a repair shop ourselves. While in Birmingham, we thought of getting it checked at one of their local offices, but they said the car wasn't rented from their branch and refused to help. There were also one or two occasions when the oil warning light came on, which indicates the vehicle likely needs maintenance. Who would be responsible if issues occurred during travel due to such vehicle conditions? Next time we'll avoid cheap options and go for major car rental companies instead.
The overall service is very clear and smooth, great experience. The staff are patient and responsible, explaining all the fees, processes, prices, insurance, and refueling very clearly.
Average experience. The rental store is easy to find, and the staff was very friendly. However, the pickup location requires walking a distance, and there’s no staff to guide you—you have to ask for directions on your own. The car model was from an unfamiliar brand, but overall it was okay. Returning the car took a long time; the store was unattended, and phone calls went unanswered. Eventually, someone showed up after we asked another person to call on our behalf. The fuel policy was inconsistent—not a full tank for pickup or return. When I picked up the car, it had only two bars of fuel, and they said returning it with two bars was acceptable, which seemed very relaxed. I ended up returning the car with seven bars of fuel. The car had been washed casually, and honestly, it felt dirtier after the cleaning. Not sticking to the full-tank policy could cost you an extra 300 yuan on fuel. Make sure to insist on full-tank pickup and return in the future.
